April 21 - The Power of Forgiveness with Azim Khamisa

Join us on The Leading Edge this Monday, April 24 as we talk about the power of forgiveness. Our special guest is Azim Khamisa. Azim is an inspiration. Hailed by dignitaries such as the Dalai Lama, Former President Bill Clinton and Al Gore, Azim carries his inspirational message of forgiveness, peace and hope into a world in desperate need of each. Following the loss of his only son Tariq in 1995 to a senseless, gang-related murder, Azim chose the path of forgiveness and compassion rather than revenge and bitterness, and this amazing choice led to the establishment of the Tariq Khamisa Foundation (www.TKF.org) and the subsequent forgiveness movement which has reached millions.

A successful international investment banker and speaker, Azim has spoken to audiences of adults, juveniles and children, ranging from small school gatherings to audiences into the thousands, including – on the occasion of a special rally in Washington DC in 1995 – a crowd of 300,000.

Through the work of TKF - working alongside Ples Felix, the grandfather of the young man who murdered Tariq - Azim has spoken in person to a half-million children, with another 20 million being touched by his message through video presentations. The public has also heard his message via print, audio, video and television specials. A recipient of 50 prestigious local, regional, national and international awards, Azim’s focus remains on his vision of a peaceful, non-violent world where people make empowering choices.

Encore! Byron Katie returns to discuss The Work!

Just in time for "Living in Joy," a SpiritPath retreat coming April 24-26 at Unity Village, The Leading Edge is happy to spotlight our recent discussion with best-selling author Byron Katie. Tune in Monday, April 14 to hear the power of The Work in action!

For nearly a decade, Byron Katie was depressed, angry and self-loathing. Then one morning in 1986, she awoke to a life-changing realization:

“I discovered that when I believed my thoughts, I suffered, but that when I didn’t believe them, I didn’t suffer, and that this is true for every human being. Freedom is as simple as that. I found that suffering is optional. I found a joy within me that has never disappeared, not for a single moment. That joy is in everyone, always.”

From that realization, Byron Katie developed “The Work,” a simple and powerful process of inquiry that teaches you to identify and question the stressful thoughts that cause suffering. Through this process, anyone can learn to trace unhappiness to its source and eliminate it.

Based on her most recent book, A Thousand Names for Joy, Byron Katie is bringing “The Work” to Unity Village to help you:

  • Eliminate stress, anxiety, anger and fear.
  • Increase your energy, clarity and well-being.
  • Improve relationships.
Are you ready to open your mind and end your suffering? Then sign up today to join Byron Katie at Unity Village and start living a joy-filled life!

Riane Eisler and "The Real Wealth of Nations" - March 24

Join us live on Monday, March 24 as Riane Eisler, author of "The Real Wealth of Nations," shares what Archibishop Desmond Tutu called "a template for the better world we have been so urgently seeking."

Riane Eisler’s story begins in Vienna, Austria, where as a small child she and her family had to flee from the Nazis. They emigrated to Cuba and eventually to the U.S. Riane has said that this trauma could have destroyed her, but instead, it led to her life-long quest to understand why horrible things like the Holocaust can happen – and what we can do so they do not happen again.

Riane has become an eminent social scientist, attorney, author, and social activist. She is best known for her international bestseller The Chalice and The Blade: Our History, Our Future, now in 23 languages, including Chinese, Russian, Korean, Hebrew, Japanese, and Arabic. Her newest book, The Real Wealth of Nations: Creating a Caring Economics – hailed by Peter Senge as “desperately needed,” by Gloria Steinem as “revolutionary,” and by Jane Goodall as “a call to action” – proposes a new approach to economics that gives visibility and value to the most essential human work: the work of caring for people and nature.

Riane emphasizes that specific actions can change one’s life and help one to see in a new way because all change begins with the individual. Her work gives people grounded hope that change is possible and that we are not doomed to despair and destruction. As Riane says, “caring pays - in dollars and cents.”
